Homemade Chocolate Pudding

Always have the children help you in the kitchen when you can. They can help gather the ingredients, measure, and mix. To prevent lumpy pudding, whisk all the dry ingredients together in a saucepan. Then gradually add the milk, a little bit at a time, whisking thoroughly after each addition until the mixture is smooth. As you are bringing the mixture to a boil, continue stirring constantly.

You Will Need:

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup baking cocoa
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 cups whole milk
2 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

What to Do:

1. In a heavy saucepan, combine the dry ingredients: sugar, cocoa, cornstarch, and salt.

2. Gradually add milk.

3. Bring to a boil over medium heat, boil, and stir for 2 minutes.

4. Remove from the heat; stir in butter and vanilla.

5. Spoon into individual serving dishes.

6. Chill until serving.
