With Valentine’s Day in a few days I made a heart-shaped pizza with my Nanny Kid. She likes pesto sauce more than tomato based sauce so we used pesto sauce with shredded mozzarella cheese to make this delicious lunch or dinner. It tastes amazing! I highly recommend trying pesto sauce on pizza if your kids like basil. Using freshly made store bought pizza dough, store make pesto sauce, and shredded cheese makes this a quick recipe. Allow the children to add the toppings to their pizza themselves.
You Will Need:
Dough for one large pizza
About 1 Cup Pesto Sauce
About 1 to 2 Cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Any Toppings: Tomatoes, Pepperoni, Bell Peppers, Meatballs, etc.
What to Do:
1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
2. Allow pizza dough to warm to room temperature for easy shaping. Shape the dough into a heart shape.
3. Allow the children to use the back of a spoon to spread pesto sauce on the pizza dough. Try not to get sauce on the ends so it doesn’t burn.
4. Have the kids spread shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the pizza. Add any other toppings the children like on pizza.
5. Bake at 450 F for 10 -15 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
