Painted Fireworks

Creative Wednesdays

Fourth of July means fireworks in America. Read “The Night Before the Fourth of July” by Amy Wummer then have your Nanny Kids make painted fireworks. To help keep the colors separated we made one toilet paper roll for each color of paint, (red, white, and blue). This craft is great because it is simple and even little kids can enjoy it. But, it is messy so protect their work surface.

Don’t forget to click here to visit my storefront to purchase the supplies needed to make this project.

You Will Need:

3 Empty Cardboard Toilet Paper Rolls
3 Paper Plates
Red, White, and Blue Washable Paint
Construction Paper
Scissors
“The Night Before the Fourth of July” by Amy Wummer

What to Do:

1. Cut slits on one end of each toilet paper roll about 2/3 of way up the cardboard roll. Continue to do this every 1/2″ all the way around each roll. Once the end are all cut carefully press the cardboard pieces out so they look like a firework.

2. Pour white paint on a paper plate. Pour some red paint on a paper plate. Pour blue paint on a paper plate.

3. Dip one cardboard roll into each separate paint and then begin to stamp the paper!  It works better if you do not get too much paint on the toilet paper cardboard roll.
