Coffee Filter Snowflakes

Creative Wednesdays

My Nanny Kids have had tons of fun cutting out paper snowflakes this winter. So we tried using coffee filters instead of paper this week and we loved the results. Google for paper snowflakes and coffee filter templates online for good ideas to help make snowflakes. But let the kids just explore cutting out snowflakes my way they want.

You Will Need:

Coffee Filters
Scissor

What to Do:

1. Flatten a coffee filter.

2. Fold a coffee filter in half.

3. Then fold it again bringing the left side to the right so that it’s ⅓ of the way over and repeat with the right side. The edges should line up and create a triangle.

4. Allow the children to cut out designs always leaving some of the flat edges connected so the snowflake doesn’t fall apart.

Be sure to read the books below about snowflakes with the kids too!
