Creative Wednesday
July 4th is Independence Day in the United States of America. Here is a very inexpensive, fun, and easy craft to make with your Nanny Kids to wear this weekend to help celebrate Independence Day. Although there are seven red stripes on the American flag to represent valor, six white stripes to symbolize purity, and 50 stars — one for every state — the kids don’t need to make a perfect American flag. Just a representation is fun to wear as a hat.
You Will Need:
Paper Plate
Pencil
Scissor
Red, White, and Blue Markers, Crayons, Paints, or Stickers
Straight Edge
What to Do:
1. Fold the paper plate in half.
2. Use a pencil and straight edge to make a rectangle shaped like a flag on the paper hat.
3. Cut the hole for the head by following the rim of plate (allowing at least an inch or two of rim uncut). Don’t cut to the end of plate so you can keep the clover shape.
4. Unfold the paper plate, protect the work surface, and let the kids decorate their flag hats.
5. Once dry, pop up the American Flag and let the kids wear their hats.
