Easter Bunny Bread

aaaCooking With Kids

With Easter coming up I wanted to make a special treat for my nanny kids for their Spring holiday. I adapted a recipe from Taste of Home to make this bunny bread. I made one large bunny bread for the entire family instead of several little bunnies for each child. The kids liked sprinkling sugar and sprinkles on the bread. It looks great and tastes sweet.

You Will Need:

2 loaves (1 pound each) frozen bread dough, thawed
2 raisins
1 maraschino cherry
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/8 cup granulated sugar
Sprinkles

What to Do:bbb

1. Cut one loaf of bread dough into two pieces. Make one piece 1/3 of loaf and the other piece 2/3 of the loaf. Form the larger portion of dough in the same of a large circle to make the body. Form the smaller piece into a circle to make the head. Place head above body.

2. Cut second loaf into six equal portions. Form each piece into a circle. Arrange two pieces into circles for ears touching the head. Then use the rest to make paws. Place the front paws just under the head and the feet at the bottom of the body.

3. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30-45 minutes. Put two raisins in the head for eyes and the maraschino cherry to make the nose.

4. Brush dough with egg. Allow the children to sprinkle the bunny with granulated sugar and sprinkles. Bake at 350° for at least 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to a wire rack to cool.
