Milk Carton Earth Day Bird Feeder

Turn a simple recycled milk carton into a charming bird feeder and a hands-on Earth Day lesson. The kids you care for will love creating something that helps the planet by making something from their recycling bin and invites birds to their backyard.

You Will Need:

Empty Milk Carton (clean and dry)
Ruler or Straight Edge
Pencil
Scissors
Sharpie Paint Pens or Paint and Paintbrush
Yarn or Twine
Birdseed

What to Do:

1. Clean and dry the milk carton completely.

2. Draw a window on one or two sides (about 2–3 inches wide).

3. Carefully cut out the window(s) with scissors.

4. Have the kids decorate the carton with sharpie paint pens or paint.

5. Poke a small hole at the top on each side and thread yarn or twine through, tying it into a loop for hanging.

6. Fill the bottom with birdseed.

7. Hang outside on a tree branch or hook.

Tip: You can cut a small flap above the window and bend it up to help keep rain out!
