Patriotic Pound Cake

Cooking for Kids

This is easiest way to make a patriotic dessert for Labor Day. I just bought the ingredients at the grocery store and assembled the cake rather than baking it from scratch. If you want to make a pound cake and the blueberry and strawberry fillings yourself just Google the recipes. Here’s what I did:

You Will Need:

1 Loaf Pound Cake (if frozen, thaw)
1/2 Cup Blueberry Pie Filling
1/2 Cup Strawberry Pie Filling
1 3/4 Cups Whipped Topping
Fresh Strawberries and Blueberries

What to Do:

1. Slice pound cake horizontally into three layers.

2. Put bottom layer on your favorite serving dish and spread with blueberry pie filling. Place the middle cake layer on top, spread with strawberry pie filling and then top off with the top slice of the cake.

3. Evenly spread the whipped topping on the top and sides of the cake. Refrigerate for several hours before slicing.

4. Serve with fresh strawberries and blueberries.
