Paper Woven Heart Hangers

Creative Projects

Kids love making Valentine’s Day crafts and sending Valentine’s Day cards. In the United States alone, about 190 million Valentine’s Day cards are sent each year, not including the hundreds of millions of cards school children exchange. Here is how to make Paper Woven Heart Hangers for your Nanny Kids to hang on their door knobs or fireplace mantels.

You Will Need:

Two Different Colored Construction Paper
Scissors
String or Ribbon (optional)

What to Do:

1. Fold each paper in half. Cut the folded paper in half.

2. On the unfolded side, cut the tops to round them to become the top of the heart.

3. On the folded side cut strips for weaving. Allow a little bit of wiggle room when cutting the stripe because you will need it to weave in the final strip.

4. To begin weaving, hold each paper, folded side down, at a 90 degree angle.

5. Starting with the upper strip, begin weaving through the strips.

6. Once you are you are ready to weave your final strip, make sure that all of the other woven strips are pushed upwards because you are going to need the wiggle room you allowed for when cutting the strips.

7. Once the final strip is woven, push all of the woven strips down. Open the heart. If you did it right, your should have a pocket.

8. The last step is to add a handle. You can cut a strip of paper for the handle, or use some string or ribbon.
