Cinnamon Sugar Roll Twists

Cooking With Kids

Children love helping cook and baking. This is an easy and tasty treat for youngsters to help make. I used pre-made pizza dough from the grocery store and had the kids roll balls of dough into snake shapes and twist them. After baking, the children enjoyed brushing the sweet cinnamon and sugar butter onto the twisted treats. I made these with an air fryer and the oven and the air fryer makes a better roll. Of course you could apply garlic, salt, and parsley to make these garlicky bread sticks instead of a sugar and cinnamon sweet treat.

You Will Need:

Pre-made Pizza Dough
Cooking Spray
2- 4 Tbsp Light Butter
2-4 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
2-4 Teaspoons Ground Cinnamon, to taste
*Air Fryer

What to Do in 450 F Oven:

1. Take the pizza dough out of the fridge and put in an oiled bowl to allow to come to room temperature. If thaw, allow to rest for an hour in the bowl. If frozen, allow to thaw 4 hours to room temperature.

2. Protect a baking sheet with parchment paper.

3. Cut the dough into 8 pieces.

4. Have the kids roll each piece of dough into a snake shape. Twist the snake once on the top (see photo).

5. Spray parchment paper on a baking sheet and place the dough on baking sheet. Spray dough with cooking oil.

6. Bake dough in the oven at 450 F degrees until golden brown.

7. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter and mix in 4 tablespoons of sugar and cinnamon to taste. Brush the butter onto the hot treats.

8. Allow to cool a little and serve warm.

* What to Do In Air Fryer:

Follow directions 1 – 4 above.

5. Place twisted dough on air fryer tray sprayed with cooking oil and spray the dough.

6. Air fry at 350 F about 10 minutes until golden brown.

7. Melt 2-4 tablespoons of butter and mix in 2-4 tablespoons of sugar and cinnamon to taste. Brush the butter onto the hot twisted rolls.

8. Serve warm.
