Stores are Empty: Delivery of Fresh Foods During Pandemic with

Small Restaurant Supply Distributers Delivering Directly to Homes and Apartments

If you are living in a populated area where finding fresh foods and delivery of foods are an issue, I highly recommend trying use

I live in a populated area near Manhattan where there are long lines to get into grocery stores and noticeable shortages of fresh meat, poultry, dairy, and produce once you get into most stores.

Although my doctor and the CDC recommend avoiding grocery stores to ensure social distancing, my Nanny Family and I haven’t been able to find any grocery delivery or curb side pick up slots available in the past five weeks.

In a 60 Minutes article Feeding the Nation and plenty of news articles all over the internet this week I learned we are already are having a hunger crisis due to coronavirus and the news articles predict it is going to get worse before it gets better.

Before coronavirus, Anderson Cooper reports that it is estimated that 24 million cases of food were sold to restaurants in bulk every single day. But now restaurants are closed and ones open are at low capacity.

For food packaging plants to transition from selling in bulk to restaurants to single individual packing to grocery stores takes time and money.

Also many of the workers in food processing plants and meat processing plants are foreign undocumented workers who weren’t getting tested for Covid with fears of deportation. Currently, processing and packing plants have closed with hundreds of workers sick.

The food supply chain in America is breaking.

Craig Fugate who used to head FEMA predicts that Americans will have to rely on cereals and grains for their primary nutrition for awhile rather than fresh produce, meats, poultry, and dairy due to the current disruptions in the food supply chain. Fugate believes the shortages we are already seeing in the grocery stores are just the tip of the iceberg.

So I decided to look for smaller, local food distributers that may want to sell fresh foods to individuals and lucked out.

Not only have I found fresh meats, poultry, fish, and produce but at the food suppliers will deliver to my Nanny Family’s house and my apartment within 24 hours.

If you or your Nanny Family are struggling for find delivery of fresh foods during the coronavirus pandemic, I highly recommend checking out to see if the high quality fresh foods can be delivered directly to you or your employer’s home.

I have NOT found a shortage of produce or meat at all- just limits on how much you can buy. Even local butcher is well stocked. We are in New Jersey. I personally use Hello Fresh and Omaha steaks for years just for convenience .
