Cooking for Families
This is my youngest Nanny Kid’s favorite dinner. It’s savory, looks impressive, yet is so quick and easy to prepare. I make one beef filet per person and this recipe that
I found on the Foodnetwork by Ree Drummond. The recipe is written for one serving. Just increase the ingredients per person.
You Will Need:
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 beef filet steak, 8 to 10 ounces, 2 inches thick
1 piece thin bacon
1 tablespoon butter, more if needed
1 tablespoon olive oil
What to Do:
1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
2. Generously salt and pepper both sides of the steak.
3. Wrap the steak with the bacon. Stretch the bacon a little to make sure it’s tight and snug. Secure the bacon with a wooden toothpick.
4. Heat an ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat. Add the butter and olive oil. When melted, add the steak to the skillet and sear on both sides until a really nice color, about 1 minute per side.
5. Remove the skillet from the stovetop and place into the oven to finish cooking. Cook until medium rare, 7 to 10 minutes.
6. Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
