Homemade Holiday Gifts
You don’t have to spend a lot of money to give personalized handmade gifts this holiday season. You can find nice mugs at the dollar store and oil based Sharpie markers and large monogram stickers at any craft store. Older school-aged children can help make these gift mugs using the first letter of their friends or family’s first or last name.
For the winter holidays, fill the mug with hot chocolate packets, peppermint candies, or marshmallows. But, the mugs make a great gift any time of the year. Wrap in cellophane paper and ribbon for a great presentation.
You Will Need:
Oil Based Sharpie Markers
Big Scrapbook Letter Stickers
What to Do:
1. Wash and dry mugs and protect work surface and wear a smock or apron so you don’t get permanent markers on furniture or clothing.
2. Place the sticker on a mug. Use the oil-based Sharpie marker to make dots around the sticker. Feel free to overlap the sticker a little so the letter shape is clear once sticker is removed.
3. Carefully remove the sticker. You can make touch ups with markers once sticker is removed.
4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Open windows and turn on fan in kitchen so it is well ventilated. Put mugs on cookie sheet and put in hot oven for at least 30-minutes. Turn off oven and let the mugs cool completely in oven for several hours.
