Cooking With Kids
How sweet it is to eat sweet potatoes! Sweet potatoes are a super nutritious food, yet taste sweet like candy. They are full of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory nutrients, and helps control blood sugar. As always, let the kids help gather the ingredients, measure, and mix the side dish. The kids I care for absolutely love this easy sweet mashed potato recipe. I hope your charges will love it too!
You Will Need:
3 sweet potatoes
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup milk
Salt and pepper to taste
What to Do:
1. Peel then rinse the sweet potatoes.
2. Dice the sweet potatoes into about 1-inch pieces and add them to a saucepan and cover them with cold water. Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Boil the sweet potatoes for about 15-minutes — until they are tender to a fork
3. Drain the water from the sweet potatoes and return them to the pan. Mash the sweet potatoes with a potato masher until they are smooth.
4. Stir in the butter, milk, cinnamon, and season to taste with salt and pepper.
