Paper
Alphabet Template or Markers
Scissors
Brown Paper Bag or Reusable Bag
What to Do:
1. Scavenger Hunt for Letters
Hide the letters around the house, classroom, backyard, or neighborhood. I try to hide letters on objects that start with the letter. Give the child a bag and let the hunt begin! As they find each letter, have them identify it and place it in order from A to Z.
2. Match Letters to Objects
Have children grab a letter from a bag and match the paper letter to an object that begins with that letter. Find C? Match it to a chair. Find B? Look for a book or ball. This adds vocabulary practice while helping children connect letters with their sounds and everyday objects.
