Water balloons aren’t just for throwing. They are the secret to the coolest backyard games ever! First try playing water balloon baseball with a plastic bat. Then have the kids play water balloon badminton and volleyball. Just have the kids slip into their bathing suits, slather on sunscreen, and invite their friends over to get soaked and have lots of fun this summer!
You Will Need:
Rapid Fill Water Balloons or Reusable Water Balloons
Plastic Baseball Bat
Badminton Rackets and Badminton Net
Volleyball Net or Rope
Plastic Bin or Small Baby Pool(optional)
Beach Towels (optional)
What to Do:
Fill water balloons outside and put in a large plastic bin or baby pool.
Water Balloon Baseball:
1. A pitcher throws water balloons instead of a baseball, and a batter tries to hit them with a plastic baseball bat.
2. The goal is to hit the balloon and send it flying. Players can aim for distance, accuracy, or even try to hit a target.
3. Fielders try to catch the balloon, and if it breaks on a hit, the batter gets a point. Switch batters, pitchers, and fielders.
Water Balloon Badminton:
1. Use a badminton net and rackets. Instead of a shuttlecock, use a water balloon.
2. Players hit the water balloon back and forth over the net, trying to keep it in the air and prevent it from popping.
3. If a player drops the balloon, or if it breaks on their side, the other player scores. You can play to a certain score or time limit.
Water Balloon Volleyball:
1. A volleyball net or a rope is used, and players throw the balloons over the net or rope and try to hit them over. So they don’t break so easily consider trying using beach towels to catch and throw the water balloons.
2. Players can use the towel to catch the balloon and then throw it back over the net, or they can use the towel to propel the balloon towards the other side.
3. If the balloon breaks on the other side of the net, the team that threw it scores. If a team fails to catch the balloon with the towel, the other team scores.
