I can never go wrong making pasta for children. I just bought a pound of ground sweet sausage, (instead of having to remove sausage link casings), to make this a super quick and easy dinner. You can replace marinara sauce with pesto sauce if you prefer. I recommend serving the pasta dish with a leafy green salad and warm Italian bread.
You Will Need:
4 cups fusilli pasta
1 pound Italian sausage
8 ounces mushrooms
1 1/2 cups grape tomatoes
1 jar favorite marinara sauce
What to Do:
1. Boil a pot of salty water. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente, slightly firm.
2. Slice mushrooms and halve tomatoes.
3. Remove sausage from casing if in links. Brown the sausage in a pan and cook thoroughly. Remove from pan.
4. Cook tomatoes until skin is blistering. Add in mushrooms until cooked.
5. Add back in sausages and toss with pasta. Add pesto sauce and mix until everything is covered.
