Matzo House for Passover

Work with the children to make a house out of matzo and other Kosher edible treats and materials. I found this idea on the Martha Stewart web site but allowed the children to use kosher candies, chocolate covered matzoh, and macarons to decorate their Passover house. It is so fun to do and although not perfect, it is fun to do and makes a wonderful addition to the Seder table. 

You Will Need:

Matzo Sheets
Chocolate Covered Matzo (optional)
Serrated Knife
Paper Plate
Soup Cans
Chocolate Hazelnut Spread or Frosting
ZipLoc Bag or Piping Bag
Kosher Jelly Candies
Macaroons

What to Do:

1. With a serrated knife, cut the following matzo sheets: two 4-by-5-inch rectangles (sides of the house), two 4-by-6-inch rectangles (front and back pieces), and two 3 1/2-by-5-inch rectangles (roof pieces). Make a peaked roof by removing the corners from the front and back pieces.

2. Pipe chocolate hazelnut spread or frosting along all edges of front and back pieces of matzo using a ZipLoc bag with tip cut out or piping bag.

3. Place front piece on an upside-down paper plate. Use use a small object, such as a soup can, to hold it upright.

4. Then, pipe spread onto the top and bottom edges of a side piece and adhere it to one side of the house.

5. Remove the soup can, and adhere other pieces with chocolate hazelnut spread or frosting in similar manner.

6. Place roof pieces and pipe chocolate hazelnut spread or frosting where they meet at the top.

7. Using the serrated knife, cut out windows and doors. Adhere to house with chocolate hazelnut spread or frosting and pipe on window panes and other details.

8. Decorate the roof with jelly candies and macaroons for shingles.
