Creative Wednesday
This paper plate ring toss game is a fun way to keep the kids busy for the afternoon both painting and coloring and then practicing their tossing skills. Use patriotic colors for national holidays like Labor Day. If it is a rainy day it’s safe to play indoors. If you’re looking for an easy-to-make afternoon activity that provides hours of fun, try this paper plate ring toss.
You Will Need:
Heavy Paper Plates like Chinet
Paint or Markers or Crayons
Paper Towel Tube
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun and/or Clear Packing Tape
What to Do:
1. Protect the work surface. Allow the child to decorate the ring toss base by painting or coloring the paper tube and the top of one paper plate. My Nanny Kid colored a piece of white paper and we used a hot glue gun to attach the paper to the cardboard tube.
2. Trace the tube on the center of the base and cut out the circle.
3. Cut 6 or more slits that are a half-inch long on the bottom of the tube.
4. Fold the tabs outward and tape them down onto the base plate. Your ring toss stand is complete.
5. To make the tossing rings, cut out the center of paper plates. If you don’t have heavyweight paper plates you can paste two plates together to make them heavier to make them easier to throw.
6. Have the children paint or color the plates in patriotic colors. The more plates you make, the more fun you’ll have.
7. Let the games begin! Have fun trying different tossing techniques.
