Mummy Hotdogs

Cooking With Kids

Kids love Halloween. This is a fun and simple lunch or snack to make with the children in preparation for the spookiest day of the year. These mummies taste just like pigs-in-the-blankets children enjoy as hors d’oeuvres at parties. Allow your Nanny Kids to roll out the dough and wrap it around their own hotdog.

You Will Need:

Puff Pastry (we used Pillsbury Crescent Dough Sheet)
Hot Dogs
Capers
Flour
Rolling Pin
Pizza Cutter
Baking Sheet

What to Do:

1. Preheat oven to the temperature in directions of puff pastry package.
2. Put a little bit of flour on the work surface and using a rolling pin roll the dough.
3. Use a pizza cutter to cut out strips of dough.
4. Allow the children to wrap the dough around a hotdog and place it on a baking sheet.
5. Put two capers in some dough at top of hotdog to represent eyes.
6. Cook according to pastry directions. But keep an eye on the hot dogs. You want the dough to only brown very lightly so they look light like bandages on a mummy.
7. Serve with condiments such as ketchup or mustard.
