I’m not sure what to think about using a Harness Baby Walkers made to help toddlers learn to walk.
The concept is the baby will fall less and feel successful as they get to walk with assistance of an adult. Certainly for a caregiver with back pain or physical limitations it would be very helpful since the caregiver doesn’t have to bend over when teaching or helping a toddler to walk.
But, since the beginning of time children have learned to walk on their own without special gadgets to teach them. Toddlers are naturally chubby and close to the ground so they typically don’t get hurt much from the normal topples and spills that kids have when learning to walk.
My feeling is that unless a caregiver has physical limitations that keep them from helping toddlers learn to walk, using a walking harness probably isn’t necessary. But I’d like to hear success stories on Facebook, Twitter, or in comments below from nannies that have used toddler walking harnesses. Perhaps they will change my mind.
