One summer in college I worked as an outdoor camp counselor. Since the first few nights sleeping outside in the dark can be scary for some children we played games to teach the kids to use all of their senses, not just their sight. This game requires plenty of pungent and spicy smelling foods and blindfolds to help heighten the kids sense of smell.
You Will Need:
1. At least 10 strong smelling foods and spices including, but not limited to: pepper, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, mint, peanut butter, citrus fruits, onions, mustard, cinnamon, and vinegar.
2. Cups or small containers
3. Blindfolds
4. Aluminum foil
Instructions:
1. Cut, shred, or mince strong smelling foods and pour the fragrant ingredients into a cup or a small plastic container.
2. Cover the cups or small containers with foil and carefully punch tiny holes in the foil allowing the scent to be easily smelled by the kids.
3. Have the kids close their eyes or wear blindfolds and hold their cup up to their noses to guess what food the fragrance comes from.
This is a really fun game! Thanks!
