My Princess Boy by Cheryl Kilodavis

Weekly Trip to the Library for Nannies and Au Pairs
Review by Kellye Couillard

Dolls are for girls, and trucks are for boys. Surprisingly, this is a belief held by many parents and caregivers. But what do we do when a four-year-old boy loves to wear dresses, sparkles, and the color pink?

In this heartfelt book written by a mother about her son, we learn that everyone deserves respect and love, despite their uniqueness.

This book, appropriate for all ages, is an inspiring call to end bullying and judgments on others. My Princess boy is the ultimate book of acceptance and unconditional love, for both children and adults.

  1. Thanks for sharing. I think it's so important for parents to let their children be themselves. I have had the great fortune to see a few of my nanny families let their children test out the other gender. One boy charge after seeing disney on ice wanted a Cinderella toy- the dad got it for him- he played with it for about two weeks and then did not want it anymore. Another family got their daughter the Thomas the Train set- she too loved it for about a month. If it lasts longer then so be it- you have to be who you are and having your parents accept that is key.

  2. I think we have a princess boy in our preschool class. He's always in pants but the styles and colors are feminine. I don't know at 3 yrs old do kids choose this or are the parents choosing to dress him this way since my 3 year old doesn't buy or choose her clothes?
