Dried Flower Valentine’s Sun Catcher

Over the summer a child I care for and I used a microwave flower press to dry flowers quickly and efficiently to make crafts during the year. This week we used some of the pink and red flowers to make a heart-shaped sun catcher as a Valentine’s craft.

You Will Need:

Small Flowers
Microwave Flower Press
Construction Paper
Self-Adhesive Laminating Paper
Scissors
Hole Punch (optional)
Twine or Yarn (optional)

What to Do:

  1. Press small flowers using a microwave flower press.
  2. Cut out a heart shape from construction paper. Cut out the center of the heart leaving a heart shaped border.
  3. Place the heart on the sticky side a sheet of self-adhesive laminating paper.
  4. Have the child place dried pressed flowers on the laminating sheet inside of the heart.
  5. Put another laminating sheet on top of the heart and flowers and press down hard to seal.
  6. Cut out the heart.
  7. Optional: Punch holes on top of heart and string with twine or yarn to hang.
  8. Hang in a window with tape or by twine or yarn.
