Hopscotch With a Twist

You can get the kiddos active by drawing a typical foursquare court, an obstacle course, or hop scotch with sidewalk chalk. But we love this idea from JrImagination. Instead of playing a normal hopscotch game, add different activities to boxes.

Use sidewalk chalk on your Nanny Family’s driveway or sidewalk to draw boxes similar to a hopscotch board. Then switch it up and add jumping, dancing, clapping, and any other fun activities to do and the number of times to do the action in the boxes.

Have the kids roll a pebble onto the “Hopscotch With a Twist” board. Then have them hop to the spot with their pebble on it and have them complete the activity in that box.

I recommend using a bowl of water to wet the chalk to make it easier to draw darker and more vibrant lines, letters, and numbers.

Consider using stencils to help draw letters and numbers as well.

I also use a flat cardboard box as a flat edge to help draw straight lines when using sidewalk chalk.

If you have difficulty bending, try using a Walkie Chalk stick to draw with sidewalk chalk without having to sit or kneel on the ground.
