3D Paper Snowflake Decorations and Ornaments

Although a child in my care made this snowflake and used it as an ornament to hang on a Christmas tree, any child of any faith can just make a 3D paper snowflake to use as a winter decoration.

You Will Need:

Paper of Choice (Butcher paper is a great choice)
Snowflake Templates
Scissors
Glue Gun or Double Sided Tape
Ribbon or Twine

What to Do:

  1. Cut paper into strips. We used strips that were 5″ to 6″ wide and about 15″ long. You can adjust this depending on the size of ornaments you would like to make.
  2. Accordion fold the full length of the paper.
  3. Cut out a snowflake (use templates if you would like).
  4. Fold the accordion in half and glue.
  5. Glue the other ends together to form the full circle.
  6. Glue any of the accordions that are laying open.
  7. Glue a string or ribbon to the top of the snowflake for hanging.

I also recommend reading children’s books about snow while doing this project such as: “All the Little Snowflakes,” “The Story of Snow,” “Curious About Snow,” “Snowflakes Fall,” “The Snowy Day,” and “Charlie and Lola: Snow is My Favorite and My Best.”
