Acorn Faces

Children enjoy collecting acorns in the backyard or while on autumn hikes. Each year I have the children decorate the acorns they collect to make little faces. Be sure to read children’s books about acorns including, “Because of an Acorn,” “The Acorn Thief,” “The Oak Inside the Acorn,” and “Acorn.”

You Will Need:

Acorns
Acrylic Paint
Paint Brushes
Sharpie Markers
Hot Glue Gun

What to Do:

1. Have the kids collect acorns and read children’s books about acorns.

2. Protect the work surface with a splat mat or newspaper.

3. Paint the acorns with paint. Once dry on one side flip them and paint the other sides.

4. Once dry, use Sharpie markers to draw faces on the acorns.

5. Attach the acorn caps with hot glue.
