Autumn Leaf Crowns

During a babysitting job with boys and girls aged 4- to 8-years-old I brought autumn crafts to make with the bunch of little ones. They enjoyed making these easy autumn leaf crowns. I especially loved when the little boy was dancing and singing, “I am Autumn Man,” while wearing his leaf crown.

Be sure to read children’s books about leaves when doing this project including: “Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf,” “We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt,” “Leaf Man,” “Fall Leaves Colorful and Crunchy,” “Autumn Leaves,” and “My Leaf Book.

You can purchase the supplies needed to make these crowns by tapping the links below or by visiting my storefront by clicking here.

You Will Need:

Read Children’s Books about Leaves (see above)
Paper Plates
Leaf and Acorn Templates
Construction Paper
Crayons
Glue Sticks

What to Do:

1. Read children’s books about autumn leaves with the children, (see above).

2. Cut out the center of paper plates.

3. Trace oak and maple leaves onto construction paper and cut out the leaves.

4. I had the kids color acorns with brown crayons and then I cut them out for them.

5. Have the kids glue paper leaves to the paper plates. I had to help kids use tons of glue due to the ridges on the plates.

6. Then have the children attach the acorns to fill in white spots on paper plate and onto the leaves on their crowns.
