“Bloom” by Julia Seal of a beautiful book that has a great message for children about climate change and pollution. The illustrations in “Bloom” are so stunning they inspire little ones to make their own craft jellyfish.
Before reading this book I didn’t know that a group of jellyfish is called a bloom and that they thrive in hot, polluted waters.
In “Bloom” a little jellyfish notices things are changing in the ocean. The little jellyfish realizes the ocean that was once full of friends now has many friends disappearing. He sets out to discover the truth and learns that everyone has a part to play in protecting the careful balance of the ocean.
“Bloom” refers to a substantial increase in jellyfish population that can be caused by climate change and pollution. In this beautifully illustrated, timely, and topical tale, the jellyfish band together to deliver an important message.
