Uncoated white paper plates can be used in so many inexpensive crafts with kids. For the Fourth of July I used paper plates to make silly hats for the kids to wear for the federal holiday. You can purchase the supplies needed for these projects by tapping the links below or by visiting my Amazon Storefront by clicking here.

For Fireworks Hat
You Will Need:
Paper Plate
Pencil
Scissors
Crayons and Markers
What to Do:
1. Use a pencil to draw stars in center of paper plate. You may need to help younger children draw the stars.
2. Use scissors to cut out the stars. Make sure the inside of the paper plate is cut out for the child’s head (see photo).
3. Allow the child to color in the stars.
4. You can cut and tape the back of the hat to fit the child’s head if needed.
For Flag Hat
You Will Need:
Paper Plate
Pencil
Scissor
Red and Blue Markers, Crayons, Paints, or Stickers
Straight Edge
What to Do:
1. Fold the paper plate in half.
2. Use a pencil and straight edge to make a rectangle shaped like a flag on the paper hat.
3. Cut the hole for the head by following the rim of plate (allowing at least an inch or two of rim uncut). Don’t cut to the end of plate so you can keep the clover shape.
4. Unfold the paper plate, protect the work surface, and let the kids decorate their flag hats.
5. Once dry, pop up the American Flag and let the kids wear their hats.
